My Boy

I know I have neglected my blog. I miss you all so much and I miss stamping too! I have been so busy sprucing up my house, getting ready for my little guy. I am going to be back in business soon and all the home improvements will make classes and get togethers much more comfortable and fun! I will be announcing an open house for later this month so stay tuned!

Gideon Michael Alvarez was born to us on June 16, 2009 at 10:49am. He was 8lbs and 6ozs and 22 inches tall. What a blessing! I can not wait for you local stampers and friends to meet him. He is a good baby, sweet and easy going. I just love him more than words can express.

A TAC Contest Winner! Wha-Hoo!

I am still having computer problems! I hope that a new battery will fix the trouble. I ordered it and it will be here in under two weeks. I hope that does the job! Until then I am still using my daughters computer...blah! It is so slow and has no software loaded on it. It makes sharing anything very difficult! HOWEVER...I did win a TAC contest. Since they take the pictures and load it online I thought it would be easy to share. These photos are property/copyright of The Angel Company 2009.

I made this fun and interactive card for my husbands Valentine this year. After I was done with it I decided that it was perfect for the Pocketfull of Love category of TACs monthly demonstrator contest! I quickly shipped my husbands Valentine right off to TAC. The Flu, Limited Internet Access and Home Improvement

I know, I abandoned you all again. I am so sorry! Trust me when I say that you are never far from my mind! At the moment I have limited Internet access due to a computer problem. I am working on it and will be back to more regular blogging and email soon. Between the computer and the flu my husband gave me I have been out of touch.

I have also been in a little bit of a life change mode. My husband and I are expecting our third child and it's a boy! I am sure that some of you already know that...what you might not know is how life changing it has been for me! I have been consumed with cleaning and clearing clutter at home. I have to fit another child in our home which is less than 900 sq. feet! We are packed as it is and I am nesting in CRISIS MODE. I have been down and desperate. My attentions have been on my home and they need to be right now.

NOW THAT SAID...what does it all mean?? It means I am still here! You can call me at any time. E-mail will be slow for a little while, but I am checking it. I place about 2-4 orders to TAC per month. I can get you anything you need! I have Serendipity Magazines at home and in stock, let me know if you need one...they are $2.95 or free with a $30 order. I will not be doing classes for a little while, but that is just because you would not believe the state that my house is in! I will be back with classes as soon as I get a handle on this sty we call home. I am going to be attending and helping with a Ladies Craft Night at Mt. Prospect Bible Church. The first one is March 7th at 6:30 til whenever. I will have a free make and take card and lots of space for you to work on any crafty thing you want. Come out and join me! HHN Challenge #2 and 50% off ends TODAY!

The word for this weeks His Holy Name Challenge is Sovereign. I am doing a bible study/stamping challenge hosted by Patter Cross. You can see all the other participants challenges galleried here on Split Coast Stampers. This challenge has been good for me spiritually and creatively. I actually used Rose Garden (T2745)! I have pulled out that stamp set so many times, but I have never been able to put together a finished project with it. I have to say, I really like the way this page turned out and I am so happy that I finally used Rose Garden. Other Supplies used to create this page inclued: VersaMagic Inks in Aloe Vera, Tea Leaves, Pixie Dust and Pink Petunia, TAC's Fly With It Catelynne Collection and buttons from our Ava and Audrey embellishment jars.
This page is 6x6 so I think it would be very easy to adapt into a 5 1/2 square card.

A Card, Stamp of the Month, and a Splitcoast Challenge

Here is a little card that I did for my December Masterpiece Card Class. It is very similar to a card that I made for The Angel Company's Spring/Summer 2008 just a little more jazzed up. I used TAC's Catelynne Fly With It Collection (V851), Lilly Anna Cardstock Collection (B314), Wild West (T2633), and Everyday Events (T2751). The cowboy is colored with PrismaColor Pencils and OMS. The star and Cactus are paper pieced from scraps of Lilly Anna cardstock. Cutting little shapes is so much easier with my newest fab find Kai's 4 inch scissors (C1220).

Stamp of the Month for January is awesome. I can not wait to get mine. This great set is cool for backgrounds and it's a great way to add the little finish your card might need. As a way to get a Bible study into my schedule, I decided to join a challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers. The challenge is on the names and attributes of God. There will be a new name or attribute every other week, for a total of 26 challenges. I thought that it might be a good way for me to study the Bible. It is kind of a study in paper, ink and stamps. So far the study has been a blessing. I thought I would share my first challenge with you here on my blog. Be Merry Pizza Box

I have said before that given my condition I need all the creative help I can get. It is a good thing that the Internet is full of talented stampers that love to share! I made this little pizza box, perfect for 3x3 cards and envies, using a tutorial from the Scor-Pal website. NOTE: I used the smaller variation provided by Valerie Stangle. You will find the measurements for this box at the very bottom of the tutorial.

Two Cards from Two Sketches

I have been relying heavily on sketches and challenges to get things done lately. I need to pack all the creativity I can into some very short hours. I made these two cards for a recent buffet using Heather Scott's Card Sketches. I used Card Sketch 49 for this Give Thanks card. I turned the card and left the corners square, but other than that it is pretty right on.

I used TAC's Brown and Ivory Cardstock, Green 2 Cardstock, Give Thanks, Spring Dream, Mega Scallop Circle Punch, Kai 4" Scissors (the BEST, a must have, for paper piecing), and Palette Burnt Umber Ink.


For this card I used Heather Scott's Card Sketch 46. I love the simple layout and need to remember to use it more often. If I would quit recreating the wheel for every card, I might actually get something done!

I used TAC's Kraft and White Cardstock, Tis The Season, Palette Burnt Umber Ink, PrismaColor Pencils, and Paper Piercer.
